Workflow Mapping
Visual Picture
Workflow maps provide a visual picture of a work process right down to the individual job tasks. Although anyone can create a flow chart, the the workflow map shows the relationships between functions, how groups interact with one another, and most importantly, illustrate where there are gaps in the process or potential missed hand-offs to other teams.
Facilitated Workflow Mapping
The best workflow mapping begins with a facilitated session among people who are actually doing the job. A facilitator draws out participants to specify what they really do, and creates a map of the data that can then become an objective expression of the current process. These facilitated sessions are the heart of our workflow service. Under various circumstances, they can also be created via interviews.
Follow Up
After the facilitated session, the notes are documented into color-coded flowcharts and validated with the participants. Once validated, the flowcharts become the basis for training programs, product development targeted to customer workflows, or process change initiatives.
